Ezeh Chisom Faith ak.a Rexxie is undoubtedly one of the most sought after music producers in Nigeria at the moment. Rexxie who has worked with the likes of Burna Boy, Naira Marley, Moh Bad and others, noted that sleepless nights was one of the sacrifices he made for stardom.
In an interview with Kemi Filani News, he said:” The sleepless nights and investing my profit back into the music business would be the sacrifices I have had to make for my career”.
Rexxie who months back got his certificate from the Recording Academy for being one of the producers who made Burna Boy’s Grammy award winning album, ‘Twice as tall’ said: “Words cannot describe how I felt when I got the certificate. I felt good inside”.
Going down memory lane, Rexxie who produced Naira Marley’s ‘Tesumole’, recounted how he became a music producer.
“I started as a keyboardist in church.I was also a music prefect in secondary school. But the main music production started with a lie I told my classmates atYabatech, I lied that I made a particular beat, then I had to live up to that lie. This made me started teaching myself how to make beats”.
Asked how he came about the name Rexxie, he said: “Rex means King .I wanted to make it sound sexier, so I opted for Rexy. Then I modified it to “Rexxie” .
Rexxie who also produced ‘Soapy’, a song by Naira Marley said they knew that the and ‘Tesumole’ would do well.
“We felt the songs right from the studio.We felt them during the studio sessions”.
The producer who produced songs like Comma and Bebo on the Grammy-winning album Twice As Tall by Burna Boy, said one of the major lessons he has learnt working with Naira Marley is not to be scared.
“I have learnt not to be scared. That is one of the major lessons I have learnt from working with Naira Marley.I have also learnt to express myself”.
