Crystal Bowersox was born and initially brought up in Ellison, Ohio with her parents. Her father is William Lester Bowersox while her mother is Kelly Lynn Bowersox. She has a twin brother Karl who indeed is as old as she is. To mention a bit extra about her family. Crystal Bowersox’s parents got divorced when she was just two years old. Not only this but she was later also diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Crystal Bowersox attended the Oak Harbor High School in Oak Harbor, Ohio. She was in choir and played flute at the school. Crystal Bowersox was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to perform her first professional gig at the age of 10. She also performed at local bars in Toledo, most popularly Papa’s Tavern and the Village Idiot in Maumee, Ohio. Crystal Bowersox at the early age of 17 moved to Chicago, where she continued to perform at the stations, including Washington and the Lake Redline stops. Crystal Bowersox says that she had to spend her initial days in poverty until 2006. Crystal Bowersox had participated in the American Idol and had auditioned for the same in Chicago, Illinois. She sang the song “Piece of my Heart” in her auditions. Her singing talent had impressed the judges a lot. The Guest Judge Shania Twain for the show had complimented her to be a “raw, natural talent.”

Crystal Bowersox is the first female contestant to make it to the finale of American Idol since Jordin Sparks won the title. The list of the milestones she has achieved didn’t just end up here. Crystal Bowersox was announced as the runner-up for American and that was the turning point in her life. Post her American Idol victory it was announced that the lady signed a 19 Entertainment/Jive Records. Her single “Up to the Mountain” has since been released to the radio stations and iTunes.

Crystal Bowersox’s debut album was “Farmer’s Daughter”, which was released to stores and iTunes on the 14th of December, 2010. Crystal Bowersox was also lucky enough to have had the opportunity to perform her song “Farmer’s Daughter” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on 16th December 2010. In October 2012, she also signed a recording deal with Shanachie Records. Her second studio album “All that for this” was released on 26th March 2013.

She even tried her hands in acting and made her acting debut on a second season episode of the Body of Proof. She has also appeared as a guest on the Blues Traveler album, Suzie Cracks the Whip, performing vocals with John Popper and also appeared with him in their concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.

Crystal Bowersox has also appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and had performed her song “Movin’ On” to promote the album. Later she had also headlined the Lancaster Festival in Lancaster, Ohio on June 27, 2013.

This was the very restaurant the couple had first met six years ago while both were performing at the open mic night. 3 years after their marriage, on May 16th, the couple announced that they were ending their marriage.

While appearing on the Good Day L.A. to promote her Christmas album on November 26, 2013, Crystal Bowersox came out as bisexual.
