Actress and mum of one, Ruth Kadiri is not letting the fact that she was ignored again from a state recognition for her colleagues, stop her from going all out for her birthday today, March 24, 2022.

Teasing fans with a photo from her birthday shoot on Instagram, Ruth Kadiri wrote “I publicly declare my gratitude to you dear lord. All my earthly prayers you have answered. I can’t say much but I am great-full. For helping me make all the right decisions in life. Happy birthday to me. love Ruth kadiri Ezerika.”

In 2021, Ruth Kadiri was  ignored during a prestigious award ceremony for female Nollywood stars organized by the Lagos State government and Mo’ Abudu.

Kemi Filani News recalls Ruth Kadiri took to her official Instagram page to express her displeasure to the organisers of the awards for not finding her worthy and deserving.

According to Ruth, the film industry is controlled by women hence the reason she was overlooked and not included among the awardees.

In her words; “I am a filmmaker. I am a woman. I am a hard-working woman. I have faced the struggles every woman/filmmaker has faced. Did my name at any point pop up yes, but because i do not belong to a click? Yet again, i have been overlooked will not be pressured. I will keep working hard. @lagosstategovt @moabudu @ijayonah @nifsummit thanks for overlooking me and congrats to everyone who got recognized.”

And then again, this month she was ignored by the Lagos state governor Sanwo Olu when women in different fields were awarded for the International women’s day event.

Some Nollywood stars, Adunni Ade, Adebimpe Oyebade and Toyin Abraham, Mo Abudu, were some of those that got the award.

The recognition award was to honour 100 EKO women for their trailblazing works, inspiring young girls, including women and outstanding contributions towards building a greater Lagos.
