Paul Graham: Career

Paul Graham’s career kick-started in 1996 when he founded the first application service provider (ASP) alongside Robert Morris, which allowed users to make their individual internet stores. Together with his co-founder, they named it Viaweb. They later sold it to Yahoo but still had some shares in the company.

Graham became famous for the wonderful essays that he posts on his own website, paulgraham.com.  A collection of his essays is published as Hackers & Painters by O’Reilly Media. He discusses the growth of Viaweb.

Graham and his wife, Jessica Livingston, together with Trevor Blackwell and Robert Morris, founded the Y Combinator in 2005. This is a seed money accelerator that seed funds companies that are just starting up. Y Combinator has invested in many companies, especially those started by young entrepreneurs.
