One of the priests of the Owo church which was attacked by gunmen has narrated the traumatic ordeal of church goers.

Rev Father Andrew Abayomi, shared an eyewitness account of the attack which led to the death of many worshippers at the church.

He said the attack occurred as the service was about to end.

While speaking with BBC, the cleric revealed that the gunshot which came from different corners, pushed them into locking the church for over 20 minutes till the gunmen left.

The Catholic Priest said;

“We were about to round off service. I had even asked people to start leaving, that was how we started hearing gunshots from different angles.

“We hid inside the church but some people had left when the attack happened. We locked ourselves in the church for 20 minutes. When we heard that they had left, we opened the church and rushed victims to the hospital.”
