Despite praising some aspects of his team’s performance against Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest coach Steve Cooper has told them never to be satisfied if they lose.
At the City Ground on Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0. Harry Kane scored both goals, but Dean Henderson saved one of his penalties to limit the damage.
However, Nottingham Forest have only had one victory in their first four Premier League games since returning to the top division.
There are hopes that they can reestablish themselves in the top tier with the wide variety of new signings. Cooper’s team has a lot of work to do, though.
Cooper has stated that they must translate good performances into results if they want to be satisfied because they are aware that they will have to fight for their status.
He told BBC Sport: “We didn’t get anything from it [the performance]. The overriding feeling is never wanting to be happy if we’re not winning. That’s the mentality I want from the players.
“That’s how we want to play. We did a lot of good things in the performance today. Our build-up play was excellent. What we didn’t do was the hardest bit and threaten the goal enough.
“We had enough opportunities to do that, we had some chances we should have done better with. We should be getting efforts on goal.
“For all the positive things people will say we do those things to try to score goals and we didn’t do that today.”
