The Three Lions of England will face defending champions France in the quarter-final of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

England crushed African champions Senegal on Sunday night to progress to the quarter-final.

Senegal had looked sharp initially, forcing Jordan Pickford to make a good save in the 31st minute. However, the tables turned as Jude Bellingham’s run ended with a pass to Jordan Henderson, who slotted home to give Gareth Southgate’s men the lead in the 38th minute.

Harry Kane scored his first Qatar World Cup goal in the third minute of first-half added time to double England’s lead.

Senegal must have thought they had a chance to get back in the game Bukayo Saka scored a third to bury the game in the 57th minute to hand England the quarter-final ticket.

Earlier in the day, France beat Poland 3-1, with Kylian Mbappe scoring two goals while Olivier Giroud scored too to become France’s highest goal scorer in the men’s national team.
