The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been defeated by Guinea-Bissau for the first time in history.
The Nigerian football team was beaten by their African opponent on Friday, March 24, 2023, in their Group A clash of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in Abuja.

Although Nigeria started out energetic, Guinea-Bissau shocked Nigeria with a 1-0 win. The team led by Jose Peseiro had lost 5 out of the last 7 matches with 3 consecutive losses prior to the football match. This implies that Guinea-Bissau is victorious over the Nigerian Super Eagles for the first time in history.
